Pierangelo Sequeri

Theological Faculty of Northern Italy | Milan

The son of two musicians (his father was a violinist and his mother a pianist), he studied violin and composition in parallel with his religious vocation.
Ordained a priest in 1968, he continued his studies, obtaining a diploma in music librarianship at the University of Urbino, and a doctorate in theology in 1972. Since September 2012, he has been dean of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, where he is also full professor of fundamental theology; he is also in charge of theological aesthetics at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
He is also editor of the magazine ‘L’ErbaMusica’ (quarterly on special pedagogy and music culture). Apart from theological and philosophical topics, his studies are oriented towards borderline themes between the religious sciences, philosophy, psychology and aesthetics. From 2010 to 2014, he was a member of the International Commission of Inquiry into Medjugorje. From 2016 to 2020, appointed by Pope Francis, he has been Dean of the John Paul II Pontifical Institute in Rome.
